I promised to investigate the upgrade to VMS 7.0 (VAX) and its relation to DECnet Phase IV. I am happy to report that I now have VMS 7.0 running on a VAXstation 3100 with Phase IV installed. It has been running for about two weeks and has had no problems. According to the current information that I have, it appears that Phase IV will not be shipped with the "Next Major release" (8.0???). For those that are interested, I also have VMS 7.0 and DECnet/OSI 7.0 running on a second VAX. Bob Hemmings 2.0 Oracle Release 7.3 and OpenVMS Version 7 for Alpha Please be advised that the current version of ORACLE, V7.1.5 for AXP, IS NOT CERTIFIED BY ORACLE TO RUN UNDER VMS V7. In fact it will not link correctly. Oracle V7.3 will be certified under VMS V7, but it is not yet available. Planned availability is Septemper, 1996. With the release of Oracle V7.3 there will be a patch for Oracle V7.1.5 to allow a migration path to VMS 7. However, the patch for Oracle 7.1.5 will not be available until Oracle 7.3 is available. The conclusion is that you should not upgrade to VMS V7 until both Oracle 7.3 and the patch for Oracle 7.1.5 have delivered and ITEC has installed and tested these Oracle versions under VMS V7. At this time we have no information on Oracle 7.3 for VAX under VMS V7. The above applies only to Alpha Systems under VMS V7. Please let us know if you have any immediate concerns on this matter. - SCADM 3.0 Time Saving Information for System Managers We have the following information on http://www.itec.suny.edu: o Getsoftware Offerings o Products included in the CSLG Program o Software Rollout Schedule o [Open VMS, Ultrix] Layered Product Compatibility o Retired Layered Products This is under the "New System Manager Info" on the first page and will be permanently housed under the ITEC section.
