1.        View or Update Your Oracle Tars

You can view or update any TARs we have opened on your behalf with Oracle from the ITEC Metalink website.  Just go to this URL http://ias.itec.suny.edu/metalink/ and enter the username and password (contact scadm if you do not know the username/password), click on TARs and from there you can view and update TARs.  Please see the “Read First” notes under TARs on the website.

2.   ITEC Computer Room Power Shutdown

There are two power issues that face ITEC:

On December 28 from 6 a.m. to noon we will need to have a power shutdown to replace the main breaker.  The shutdown must be done during daylight for health and safety issues. (Our building houses international residence halls that will be occupied during this time.)  On a date to be determined in January, we will need to upgrade the UPS.  We anticipate this power shutdown being from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.  We will keep you posted once more information is available.

3.       Holiday Schedule

ITEC and Buffalo State's offices will be closed for the College's Winter Pause beginning December 24, 2004, and re-opening on January 3, 2005. Professional staff will be available by REMEDY or email. Also, emergency cell phone numbers are recorded on our voice mail message at 716-878-ITEC (4832).

REMEDY is the preferred method for contacting ITEC.  REMEDY tickets can be created and viewed from our home page at www.itec.suny.edu.

Email messages should be sent to the group and not an individual. This way if an individual is not available the email is still monitored. E-mail addresses are as follows:

scsys@itec.suny.edu: Systems and Communications Staff (includes Aharanwa, Bardak, Bordeleau, Clutter, Hoot, Massaro, Radomski, Reling, Weber, Zymowski)

scadm@itec.suny.edu:  Administrative Staff (includes Brace, Brint, Collins, Feng, Hebert Lofft, Notarius, Randall, Snyder)

5.            ITEC Scholarship Recipient

During this past year the staff at ITEC established a scholarship to assist Buffalo State students in easing the burden of college expenses.  Each year a $500 award will be given to a student who demonstrates excellence in technology and computers.

Our first recipient is Sandra C. Spaziani, a senior in the Exceptional Education and Childhood Education program.  In addition to carrying a demanding academic schedule, Sandra is employed at a local specialty/produce grocery wholesaler.   Sandra was responsible for designing and implementing a complete inventory database for her employer that is a full-cycle system that tracks from the point of purchase to the point of sale.  Sandra is interested in working with the homeless population of students and would like to use her technical skills to create a database to track students in metropolitan areas in order to provide better assistance to them.

The staff at ITEC congratulate Sandra on her accomplishments and wish her success in her future endeavors.
